Right now, humanity is consuming resources as if we had about 1.7 Earths. Some global analyses warn that if everyone consumed like today’s highest-consuming countries, we’d need the equivalent of 3–7 Earths to sustain our lifestyles. Fast fashion and disposable clothing are a major part of that footprint—from carbon emissions to water use and textile waste—which is why EarthSmart and EcoStitch teach a different way to design, buy, and produce.

You don’t have to be a fashion designer or engineer to make a difference. Volunteers, mentors, teaching artists, partners, and donors all play a role in helping learners build skills, confidence, and careers while caring for our one and only planet.

EarthSmart: Rethinking Fashion began as our founder’s platform while she was Mrs. Nevada Earth 2024, partnering with five high schools and 240+ students on a sustainable, fashion-forward program she co-led through the Junior League of Las Vegas that culminated in a New York–style runway showcase honoring top student designers. On March 6, 2025, EmpoweredMinds Achieve was approved as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and EarthSmart grew into a core initiative that merges sustainability, STEAM education, and creativity to tackle fashion’s environmental footprint—textile waste, high water use, and carbon emissions. Through hands-on learning, upcycling projects, and sustainable design challenges, we empower high school students, adults, creatives, and fashion lovers to see fashion as a force for change—where technology, engineering, and conscious design come together to reduce waste, spark innovation, and create income-earning opportunities while building a more sustainable future.
